General Care and Maintenance Tips

To prolong the life of your Stormy Lifejackets Pty Ltd we recommend that you regularly clean and maintain it to ensure it is functional and still enjoyable to wear. No one wants to wear a stinky jacket, or have a life jacket that might not work!

Your Stormy Life Jacket is designed to be worn when you’re on a boat, so store it somewhere dry and safe when not in use. Leaving it in the boat, or exposed to the elements will add unnecessary wear and tear to your life jacket. We recommend to ensure it is dry and hanging on a coat hanger in your wardrobe or shed.

Rinsing your Stormy Life Jacket in fresh water is a great way to prevent excessive salt build up and also avoid the build up of odours from fishing or other activities. If your Stormy is water activated, unscrew the water activated canister before rinsing to avoid accidently setting off the emergency activation. Place your jacket on the ground and rinse the inflation system and all parts of the jacket, including the zips and the CO² clyinder.

If your jacket has a thick covering of dirt or grime warm soapy water and a sponge could be used, however, do not scrub any part of the jacket to ensure the inflation system is not damaged. Hang your Stormy to dry in a cool place out of the sun, ensure it is completely dry before storing – as no one wants a mouldy life jacket!
