The NEW Fishermen’s friend

Stormy Lifejackets have a long and proud history of developing the best life jackets for any activity on the water. The company began in 1993 by making inflatable wet weather coats for fishermen at a time where there were too many unnecessary drowning’s as a result of traditional foam PFDs being too bulky to be worn. By combining practical clothing with the best PFD available Stormy Lifejackets have not only created a new life saving device, we are proud of the fact we have saved a countless amount of lives of those who have fallen victim of an overboard emergency.

Our commitment to product innovation is never ending. Recently we began working with Southern Ocean Safety in New Zealand to develop a variation of our Stormy Lifejacket that is suited to the cold and hostile environment that commercial fishermen are exposed to in Southern New Zealand. From working with the local experts, the 46 South Jacket has been developed for working in the frigid conditions 46 degrees south of the equator.

The Stormy 46 South Jacket has an industrial and seamless front to be more durable for carrying cray pots and other equipment. It also has zip off ¾ length sleeves so the forearms remain free of while working without sacrificing warmth. There is also a larger collar and hood, and instead of the micro fleece lining a thicker polar fleece lining is used so the user stays toasty and warm in the most hideous conditions the southern ocean throws at them. These PFDs are made in the Hobart factory and are customised to accommodate additional pockets or safety equipment as desired.

We have recently been profiled in the Southland Times in NZ, the story can be viewed here online http://www.stuff.co.nz/southland-times/news/7721361/Lifejacket-developed-for-fishermen
